COMMON LEATHER ALTERATIONS

SLEEVE LENGTH

Leather pieces are made to a different standard and practice than any other garment out there. The difficulty in altering the sleeve length of a leather jacket or shirt is a classic example of “Be sure you hire someone that knows what they’re doing.”

HEMMING

Leather jeans with a turned up cuff and no stitching requires the right adhesive for the weight and type of leather you’re dealing with. Top stitching them instead? One missed stitch means permanent damage that can’t be fixed.

TAPERING OF BODY & SLEEVES

Taking in leather with or without top stitching requires a steady and careful hand. Like hemming, one missed stitch is irreparable, while letting out a leather garment with an inset is so difficult most places won’t even attempt it.

REPLACING ZIPPERS

It’s an unfortunate reality that zippers just don’t last forever. I’m able to source zippers from a handful of high-quality suppliers to color/tone match your zipper pull to the factory original, or find one that’s more funky or fun!
