How long does the custom clothing process take?
Plan on an hour to an hour and a half for the first consultation, where we measure you or fit you in a try-on garment. Finished garments are typically ready in 6–8 weeks (8–10 for handmade to measure), depending on the cloth you choose.
Is the consultation free?
Yes. The first consultation is free, at the Fort Myers studio or at your home or office. It takes an hour to an hour and a half. You pay only when you order a garment, and you know the price before anything is cut.
How much does a custom suit cost?
Custom suits start at $1,095 for a two-piece and $1,195 for a three-piece. Across our mid-range cloths the average is about $1,895 for a two-piece and $2,245 for a three-piece. Every suit is built to a pattern made from your measurements, with no stock sizes. The final price depends on the cloth you choose, and you will know it before anything is cut. American Made suits start at $3,490.
Can I get a custom suit in six weeks?
Almost always, yes. Made to measure takes 6 to 8 weeks, and six weeks is usually enough. If your date is closer than that, rush options take about 3 weeks or 2 weeks, for a fee. Handmade to measure needs 8 to 10 weeks, and American Made cannot be rushed. Tell me your date when you book.
Can you handle rush orders?
Often, yes, for menswear. Thunder takes about 3 weeks and Lightning takes 2 weeks, door to door, with a rush fee added to the garment price. Rush is first come, first served and depends on the cloth, so call or text me before you book. Ask me about womenswear.
What does American Made mean?
American Made garments are cut and sewn in Rochester, New York, by a family-owned workshop, in American Woolen or imported cloth. They are made by master tailors. It comes with 20+ hours of handwork and a first-fit garment. See the American Made page for prices and the full timeline.
How long does an American Made garment take?
Plan on 12 to 14 weeks, because a first-fit garment is made before your cloth is cut. American Made tuxedos take about 16 to 20 weeks. If you have a date, tell me at your first visit and I will plan backwards from it. American Made garments are not available as rush orders.
Do you offer any deals?
Yes. Order a suit and add a second pair of trousers in the same cloth, and take 15% off the second pair. Order two suits and get a free shirt, or three suits and get three, each up to a $250 value. Order five shirts and the sixth is free; the free shirt is always the lowest priced of the six. Seasonal offers run from time to time. These packages and referral credits do not apply to American Made garments. Every garment, deal or not, is made to the same standard.
What is a signature monogram?
It puts your own handwriting on a custom shirt. You write your signature or a short phrase on paper, I scan it, and my digitizer turns it into a stitch file. It can go on the cuff, chest or body of the shirt, in the thread color you choose. It is available on shirts only and normally costs $30. Standard monograms, such as initials, are included.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes. A friend you refer gets 10% off their first order when they mention your name, and you get a credit worth 10% of their order toward your next purchase. Credits apply to new orders only and cannot be transferred. Referral discounts and credits do not apply to American Made.
Do you accommodate disabled or special-needs clients?
Absolutely. We regularly adapt garments to individual needs, for example, reinforcing trousers for clients with prosthetics, so the fit works for your body and your life.
How do I make changes to my order?
Changes within 24 hours of ordering are no problem. After that, it depends where your garment is in production, so we'll review any change individually. For American Made, changes before your cloth is cut may cost extra, and I will tell you before they do.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, digital gift cards are available. A custom garment makes a memorable gift.
Do you keep an online catalog of your work?
There's a small portfolio on the site, but most client photos stay private out of respect for confidentiality. We're happy to show more in person.
Do you alter clothes from other stores?
No. We no longer offer outside alterations services. We alter only the garments we make.
How are alterations on my custom clothing handled?
Adjustments at the final fitting are included. The first alterations after delivery are included if requested within 30 days of the final sale for made to measure and American Made, and within 90 days of the final sale for handmade to measure. They cover jacket waist, sleeve length, trouser length, and trouser waist and seat. For jeans, they cover hems and waist only. Anything after that, any other change, and any change needed because your weight has moved by more than 5 lbs is a paid service, quoted before work begins.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, personal checks and all major credit cards (processed securely through Square).
Are my transactions safe?
Yes. Card payments are processed by Square, so I never see or store your card number.
Is there a fit guarantee?
Yes. Every garment comes with the Fit Promise: if, after your final fitting, the fit cannot be corrected with an alteration, I will remake it once at no charge. It applies when you raise the concern at your final fitting or within 30 days of the final sale, your weight is within 5 lbs of when you were measured, and the garment has not been worn out, altered elsewhere or damaged. Changes of style or preference are not covered, and it is never a refund.
How are refunds handled?
Custom garments are made specifically for you, so they aren't refundable, which is exactly why we measure and fit so carefully.
