Most people have never had a suit made for them. They’ve been sized, maybe altered, but not measured. There’s a difference, and it matters more than you’d think.
Here’s what actually happens when you come in.
The Consultation
Before a tape measure comes out, we talk. What’s the occasion? What do you already own that fits well, or doesn’t? What do you do for work? How do you carry yourself?
A suit that works for a courtroom reads differently than one for a wedding, and both are different from what you’d want on a sales call. The cloth, the construction, the silhouette. All of it follows from knowing who you are and what you need.
The Measurements
Careful measurements, or a fit from our try-on garments, plus a posture assessment. Most suits are cut for an imaginary average body. Yours isn’t average. You might carry one shoulder lower, have a longer rise, or hold your arms differently when you stand naturally. We account for all of it.
This is the part that separates a custom garment from even the best off-the-rack with alterations. You can only alter so much before you’re fighting the original cut. A suit built around your posture from the start doesn’t need fighting.
The Cloth
You choose from our cloth books: wools, blends, and linens from mills like Holland & Sherry, VBC, and Caccioppoli. We’ll help narrow it down based on your climate, how often you’ll wear it, and what it needs to do.
Florida heat is real. There’s no point in a beautiful heavy English wool if you’re walking into outdoor events in August. We’ll steer you toward cloths that breathe, travel, and hold their shape in humidity.
The Build
Your measurements go to our partner workshop, where the suit is cut and assembled to your pattern, with details like working cuffs. Construction details that you’ll never see from the outside but that you’ll feel every time you put it on.
This takes time. Standard timing is 6 to 8 weeks, and if you have a date there are rush options. I will give you an honest timeline upfront.
The Fittings
If you add a first-fit garment, you will try it on before your cloth is cut. Otherwise the next time you see it is the final fitting, where I make any adjustments. That is not a correction to something that went wrong. It is the natural refinement of a garment finding its final form on your actual body.
What You Walk Away With
A suit that fits exactly one person: you. Not your size, not your approximate shape. You. One that will last years with proper care, that won’t date badly because it was never trendy to begin with, and that does something no off-the-rack garment can do.
It looks like it was made for you. Because it was.
